Thursday’s News
Greetings everyone,
First, it has been a GREAT week. The kids love it here, and we’ve enjoyed spending time together. We haven’t had a serious problem of any kind. Well, there was the soap in the fountain event. Backstory: Years ago the kids used to put laundry detergent in the fountain every year at camp. Austin College was not happy about that. Some years ago they began draining the fountains for the summer (when all the various youth groups do camps at the college) And so the tradition faded away.
Until this year. They have a new fountain and they left it full and running. And of course, someone (probably from our youth camping association though there is no proof of that) remembered the old tradition and merrily filled the fountain with soap again.
The more things change…right?
But that’s it. No injuries. No serious behavior issues. Smooth as silk.
I’ve noticed the kids starting to make friends in their community groups. we purposefully break them up for that. We always like to see them getting to know the kids from other churches.
Tonight is our final service. We will share communion together. It’s always a meaningful time.
And here’s the news for today, our last edition of the camp newspaper for 2008.
It’s been an honor being here with your kids.
